Shakespeare & Stanley Hall

We went to watch the Twelfth Night a William Shakespeare play at Stanley Hall a moated Elizabethan House in Halstead with its 2 acres of island gardens, surrounded by around 30 acres of park, woodland and small organic farm.

The weather wasn’t ideal so the play was held inside the big barn. The play was played by men, even for the roles of ladies. This is an authentic Shakespearean experience – all male actors in Elizabethan costumes with music and dance. The play is cute and hilarious delivered in old verbose English!

After the play, we wandered around the property.
