Scotland : Rosslyn Chapel, Rosslyn Castle, Roslin Gunpowder Factory

The first place we wanted to visit in Scotland is Rosslyn Chapel, it was built in 1446 by Sir William St Clair and features beautiful ornate stonework. It is also located near Edinburgh, so it’s a perfect first stop.

Not far from the chapel is Rosslyn Castle. A heavily fortified castle ruins located on a promontory overlooking the River Esk. We walked there following a path from the chapel.

Since we’re there anyway and it’s not late yet, we decided to walk a bit further within the park to check out Roslin Gunpowder Factory. Some parts were overgrown and there were ruins along the way.

And that’s how we spent out first day in Scotland.
