Journey North: Housesteads Roman Fort- Hadrian’s Wall

Our journey North starts from London via M11. We decided to stay on this (East) side of the UK with plans to check out English Heritage, National Trust places and other interesting spots all the way to Scotland. We drove 301 mile to Haydon Bridge, where we stopped for a couple of days to check out Hadrian’s wall, Roman Forts and Temple.

Hadrian’s Wall is a defensive fortification in Roman Britain that was began during the reign of emperor Hadrian. It’s a 73 mile long wall from East to West that protected Roman Britain from the barbaric tribes of the North.

My mother in law was very knowledgeable about Roman Britain, she was even a volunteer at the British Museum! Enjoy the pictures!
